     At Heritage quest, there is a book called the historical significance of
Rockbridge County VA by James McClung that may help you.
     The book describes (and has pictures) of old houses and churches. It
includes dates of when the houses were built so you may be able to compare your
house to others in the same area and/or the type of building to get an
approximate date. Debbie
