There not only were pensions but also land warrants (grants) for that service. Some state USGENWEB sites may have the pension lists and land grants on line. My GGgrandmother's application for a pension for her husband's service was on file at the Jackson County AL Courthouse in Scottsboro.

NARA I know has the pension files and warrants. Check with them.
