John M. Coski's THE CONFEDERATE BATTLE FLAG: AMERICA'S MOST EMBATTLED
EMBLEM (2005) is a splendid book that not only sorts out which of the
many Confederate flags was which but also discusses the many ways in
which people have employed them and the many ways in which people have
reacted to displays of the flag. I highly recommend it.
