I subscribed  to Footnote yesterday and am overwhelmed just poking 
around Culpeper VA veteran pension records.

[One particular image helped me sort out the 3 Philip CLAYTONs 
(eternally goofed-up in all the old published genealogies) who served 
at the same time in the Revolution. No small feat & well worth the 
annual subscription fee which I found was half-price ($39.95) on Friday.]

Check out this press release: "National Archives and Footnote Launch 
Project to Digitize Historic Documents" about the NARA partnering 
with footnote.com to get among other things,  images of the veteran 
documents out to the public!

I subscribe to Ancestry.com too but...if  I can ultimately download 
complete military records of my various lines throughout the 
centuries directly, well uhmm, that speaks directly to the wee bit o' 
Scot left in me.
