I subscribed to Footnote yesterday and am overwhelmed just poking around Culpeper VA veteran pension records. [One particular image helped me sort out the 3 Philip CLAYTONs (eternally goofed-up in all the old published genealogies) who served at the same time in the Revolution. No small feat & well worth the annual subscription fee which I found was half-price ($39.95) on Friday.] Check out this press release: "National Archives and Footnote Launch Project to Digitize Historic Documents" about the NARA partnering with footnote.com to get among other things, images of the veteran documents out to the public! http://archives.gov/press/press-releases/2007/nr07-41.html I subscribe to Ancestry.com too but...if I can ultimately download complete military records of my various lines throughout the centuries directly, well uhmm, that speaks directly to the wee bit o' Scot left in me.
