The Mayflower left England at the height of the Atlantic hurricance season and the northern route they took had them battling storms and the Gulf Stream most of the way.

On her return to England in the spring of 1621 with fair weather and following seas, with the added push of the Gulf Stream they made the crossing in 31 days or about 3 and 3/4 MPH.
