I wondered whether the headwaters of NC's Cutawhiskie (et al) Creek were
possibly located across the boundary line in Virginia, which would place it
in old Nansemond Co. VA. But no, its headwaters are just east of the town
of Woodland so this creek runs primarily west to east and lies entirely in
Hertford Co. NC......unless the NC-VA boundary line dispute or beliefs
affected this during colonial times:

George,

In this time period there are numerous NC references (with variants) to the
present Cutawhiskie Creek in present Hertford Co., NC.

The variants include (among others): Catawaskee, Catasasky, Catawatskee
Meadow; Catawatsker Meadow, Catawitskee Meadow, Catawitsky Meadow.

See Margaret M. Hofmann's Province of North Carolina 1663-1729 Abstracts of
Land Patents.

Lewis/Luis WILLIAMS entries:
#226, 487, 585, 586, 658, 659, 660, 689, 927, 2202, 2503, 2930, 3104, 3114,
3190, 3249.

It was meant to distinguish properties and was variouly spelled as
CatawatKey, Catawaskey meadow, Katawatsky.....obvioulsy all phonetic
spellings of the same place. I appreciate any and all help you can give.
