Greetings,
In the 1870 census for Halifax County, VA, there is a 65 year old black woman
listed with the given name Setha. Setha is living with one of my known
ancestors.
How common was the given name Setha back then?

I am researching a female named Esther with the same surname in the same
area, could the given name Setha actually be my Esther? Did the Census taker
make a mistake?
The names sound alike to me.
What do you think?
Thanks,
Larry
