Letcher Co. KY is right across the state line from SW Virginia.
Kentucky became a commonwealth in 1792. Anyone can make a mistake when
writing down a geographic location, whether from a mental lapse or
misinformation. Unfortunately finding a primary source a couple of
hundred years old doesn't guarantee the legitimacy of information, as
much as we'd like to believe it does :)
