Among RELIC's recent acquisitions is a CD-ROM of the 1937 aerial
photographs of Prince William County, courtesy of the County's Historic
Preservation Office. This allows us to study and reproduce images of
that historic landscape. The images are also now accessible as an
overlay to the County's online mapping system. Go to www.pwcgov.org

TOPICS, choose Geographic Information, Choose Aerial Image Viewer.
Locate and Zoom to an Intersection or a Parcel Address or Grid Parcel

Presented by Tish Como
Genealogy 101 introduced basic resources and techniques for
researching your family's history. Genealogy 201 presents alternate
resources to enhance your family's history and advanced search
techniques to help maximize your results from online databases including
census records, passenger lists, maps, and books. RELIC's Tish Como
will present this program on Thursday, December 10, beginning at 11

requires a certain amount of planning. RELIC's Don Wilson will discuss
resources available at many libraries today, how to prepare for your
visit, how to make the best use of your time, and how to obtain expert
help for your problem from library staff. The program will be held

IMMIGRATION AND NATURALIZATION RECORDS
FOR GENEALOGISTS
Presented by Zack Wilske, Historian, USCIS
Part of the lure of family history is to find information
about an ancestor's voyage to America and to identify his or her place
of birth in the old country. The federal government has been collecting
information about immigrants for many years. The former Immigration and
Naturalization Service (INS) and now the U.S. Citizenship and
Immigration Service (USCIS) are the focus of those collection efforts.
Zack Wilske, an historian with USCIS, will present "An
Introduction to Immigration and Naturalization Service Records for
Genealogists" at Bull Run Regional Library on Tuesday, January 26, 2010,
beginning at 7 p.m. This presentation, for beginners and experienced
researchers alike, will use case-study examples to provide an overview
of relevant immigration sources. His talk will cover arrival and
naturalization records available from both the USCIS Genealogy Program
and the National Archives. Mr. Wilske's research interests include the
history of the INS and its records.
