D.W. Carter's will was written 4 September 1862, and was recorded 15 January
1863. See Petersburg Hustings Court Will Book 5, 1860-1871, pp. 181-182.

Subject: Petersburg Records

I appeal to you stalwarts of the List. Any information will be appreciated.

I am searching for D(octor) W. Carter for appears in the 1860 census of the
city of Petersburg. He is 24 years of age living in the west ward of
Petersburg with Louisa age 26 or 28 and a boy of 10 years named Jannit(sp)
F. Gates. He is not listed in 1870 census. He was listed as a
Superintendent of a tobacco factory. He was a son of Wison Carter and Sarah
Davis of Prince Edward County, Va.

Is there a city directory for Petersburg between 1860 and 1870?
Could he have died between 1860 and 1870? Is there a record of deaths for
Petersburg?
Could he have been killed in the Civil War?
Is there a list of those buried in Blandford Cemetery or any other cemetery
within the range of the City.

Thanks for reading this and any help will be appreciated.
