My ancestor, Private William Peters from Franklin County, fought with the
57th VA Infantry, Company C. I read in Stephen Sear's "Landscape Turned Red,"
that the 57th VA Infantry was at Antietam. Were they there only in a support
position?

Thank you in advance for any information. I look forward to hearing from you &
to learning the part the 57th played in America's bloodiest day.

Sincerely,

Mike Peters
