Hi VA-ROL members,

The Records Analysis Section (RAS) has received feedback indicating a desire for basic records management training.  Currently, records analysts conduct in-person basic training only by request.  Due to budget constraints, analysts are unable to travel to individual government entities to conduct basic training unless 30 participants are registered in advance.  We understand that the 30-person threshold can be a significant hurdle for many smaller agencies.  In the past year, the Library has created a YouTube<http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMBxwRsuTIggFtk5Ws5u04unZFnsuOQVg> site containing videos that cover the topics addressed in the basic training presentation.  The videos are in-depth and provide answers to the most frequently asked questions we receive.  All that being said, we understand that watching videos doesn't work for everyone and that it's helpful to be able to ask questions of a live person in the moment.

As a result of the feedback received, we will be offering the standard basic records management training delivered electronically as part of a pilot program to explore the possible expansion of our Web offerings.  Each session will be limited to 25 participants and will be offered via GoToMeeting, which allows users to view the presenter's screen and audibly connect through the phone or by using VoIP.  Registration will be required, but there is no cost for the training.  Registration will close one week prior to the event date.
