The General Schedules for Localities provide the following guidance:

    General Schedule 2
Grant Files: Federal and State
This series documents the receipt and expenditure of money for various projects that are funded by either state or federal grant programs.

010164

Retain 3 years, until audit, or as long as required by the terms of the grant, whichever is greater, then destroy.

Subject: Federal Grant Paperwork

Would someone give me some guidance on Federal Grant paperwork? I've been told that it does not fall into the same category as the normal financial records, and cannot be destroyed at all! Is that true? I can understand it may be true for some of the paperwork, but is all of it under that regulation? Thanks in advance for your help!
