Subject: [NAGARA-TALK] NARA Budget
On June 14 the US House of Representatives passed the appropriations
bill that includes funding for the National Archives and Records
Administration. The measure cuts the NARA budget by $8 million. This
is in addition to a $12 million shortfall that was previously included
in the budget. The budget will move on to the US Senate next. If these
cuts remain in the NARA budget, there will be reductions in services
provided to the American people. NAGARA members are encouraged to
contact their US Senators in support of restoring NARA funding. Please
see the NARA Notice that was issued on June 19, 2006 about the budget
for additional information. Thank you.
