Good morning,
The Library of Virginia’s Archives and Records Management Services Digital
Imaging Guidelines are now posted and are available at the following address:
http://www.lva.lib.va.us/whatwedo/records/electron/digital_imaging.pdf
The purpose of the guidelines is to provide best practices for public bodies
that are investigating the use of imaging systems for storage and retrieval of
public records. Agencies and localities are responsible for implementing
appropriate policies, procedures and business practices in order to ensure that
an imaging system protects the authenticity, reliability, integrity and usability
of public records. As such, the guidelines are designed to identify critical
issues for public officials to consider when designing, selecting, implementing,
operating and maintaining imaging technology.
If you have any questions, please contact the Records Analysis section of the
Archival and Records Management Services Division at 804-692-3600 or

Thank you,
