Hi,

The update to GS-13, Commonwealth's Attorneys was approved at the Records Oversight Committee meeting on June 12th. The update ended up being a complete revision with changes made to every series. Most notably, the case files series were expanded to allow for more flexible classification, and new series were added to cover Forfeiture Files and Special Grand Jury Files. Please note that that there is a guidance document at the beginning of the schedule that explains that each Commonwealths' Attorney's office must devise a policy/procedure for case file classification as well as determine what "closed" means.

The new schedule is here: http://www.lva.virginia.gov/agencies/records/sched_local/GS-13.pdf

Feel free to contact me if you have questions about the update.

Many thanks to the folks on the focus group who worked very hard to get this schedule revised!

Jessie
