of great help to you whether you are purchasing an imaging system, records
management software, or other customized software.   This speaker addressed
the same topic at a joint VAGARA/Library of Virginia workshop last month and
this is your chance to hear him if you missed that workshop.  See

Topic: Protecting Yourself on Major Software Projects: Avoiding the Big
Pitfalls

Procurement involves challenging business negotiations to protect you and
your organization from project failure.  Unless you are purchasing
off-the-shelf software, this presentation can save you time, money, and
aggravation.    

 

The presentation will identify the experience and capabilities required for
a successful procurement, discuss competitive negotiation, and a wide
variety of components to the Request for Proposal process including, but not
limited to, system functionality, responsibilities of the vendor and you,
custom programming, conversion, project scheduling, and payment.  

 

Speaker: Tom Tokarz, Esquire 

Mr. Tokarz is Assistant County Attorney for Henrico County.  He is a
graduate of the College of William and Mary and the University of Virginia
School of Law.  He has negotiated all of Henrico County's major computer and
software contracts since 1986 and has been involved in several lawsuits
involving failed software projects.  He is currently a member of the
Virginia State Bar Committee on Technology and the Law.

 

 Menu: Chef's Choice plated meal to include: salad, entrée, starch,
vegetable, rolls or bread, dessert, coffee or tea. 

               

Cost: This meeting is $25 to AIIM members and $30 to Non-AIIM Members.
