Dear Va-Hist:

I was out of the office yesterday and therefore did not get to read many
of the messages on the flag topic until this morning. It is a very fine
discussion of how history gets perceived and used and misused and of how
symbols and words like "heritage" have different meanings to different
people. Thanks.
