I am pleased to see some entries concerning the James River. I am trying
to locate "Wards reach 4 miles below Richmond", the spot where Gabriel
boarded Captain Taylor's sloop in order to escape capture after
Gabriel's conspiracy was discovered in 1800. Later references locate
Ward's reach near Drewry's Bluff, which is certainly more than 4 miles
below Richmond.

I would appreciate learning exactly where Ward's reach was in 1800 or so.

Thank you,

Philip J. Schwarz
