I am going to post a question and answer here in hopes that someone can
connect and add further information as to the whereabouts of Samuel P.
Christian, Jr. born c.1802-1814 in Virginia and died between 1850-1860
in Houston, TX.

This was an answer to a question I posted back in 2008:

I believe that the Samuel P. Christian who married Elizabeth Wills in
1833 is identical with Samuel Patteson Christian (Jr.), the son of
Samuel Patteson Christian and Ann/Nancy Patteson of Buckingham County,
VA. I am not certain, however.

What I do know: Samuel Patteson Christian Jr. had two sons, Samuel
Patteson Christian (III), who was born in 1835 and William D. Christian
born in 1838. The latter was born in or around Lynchburg and would
always describe it as his hometown.

They were in Texas by the late 1840s, coming first to Galveston and then
to Houston. Reconstructing the history from biographical sketches of
William D. Christian, who became a prominent Houston businessman, I
believe that S.P. Christian Jr. died before his sons reached the age of
majority. I have not yet made an attempt to search for guardianship
records, etc in the early Harris County (TX) records. (This is a
collateral line for me.) Neither Samuel P Christian III (known as Pat)
nor William D. Christian ("Captain Billy") had any children. Pat was a
steamboat captain and (as noted above) Billy became a well-known
businessman and civic leader in Houston. Both were Confederate Vets as
well, Pat with Terry's Texas Rangers and Billy fighting at the Battle of
Vicksburg.

Here is my recent reply:

It does help and seem to falls into place. Samuel P. Christian who
married Elizabeth B. Wills in 1833 in Richmond, is "not" the physician I
originally thought to be. I found a newspaper ad placed in 1835 stating
that he joined partnership with the Knapp, Preston & Co. on Main Street
in Richmond. By 1837 the business was in financial trouble. This may
account for William being born in Lynchburg if he moved on after the
company folded? Then I find yet another ad, probably when he moved from
Buckingham County to Richmond to "invest" in the dry goods partnership
in 1835 selling the homestead of about 1069-acres of land 10 miles from
the James River for face value. Said he was "relocating to the
South-West". But then again I thought I saw a Dr. Samuel P. Christian
in Buckingham too yet seen from New Kent? Confusion here?

An obituary for William D. Christian states he moved to Texas with the
family in 1847 but then again, it says they first settled in Galveston
then Houston so the date "may" indicate when they arrived in Houston
instead - or not?

Any further information appreciated especially on Christian and Wills!

Eric

Note... Samuel P. Christian III (1835-1908) William D. Christian
(1838-1929) - both in Houston, TX.
