Everyone,

A friend at the Halifax County Historical Society sent me a notice about the 227th anniversary of General Nathanael Greene's successful crossing of the Dan River on 14 February 1781 (General Cornwallis was in hot pursuit, on his way, later that year, to Yorktown).

The Crossing of the Dan will be celebrated in historic downtown South Boston on 8-9 February 2008. It looks like a fun and educational event.

If interested, or just interested in how to put togeher a community history event, check out the website at http://www.prizery.com/Crossing/Celebration.htm.

John
