The item referenced is actually in the collections of the Virginia
Historical Society, a part of the bequest of the late Paul Mellon almost
a decade ago.

Mary,

I know it is the wrong century but I believe you may want to examine
"The Travels of Richard Truanter....." [1699] held (I am told) at the
Library of VA. I visited the library earlier this year and could not
locate this manuscript. Alexander Moore (628 Old Plantation Road,
Charleston, SC 29413) has transcribed the manuscript and is working on a
paper about it. Having seen his transcript, I can attest that the
document offers tremendous insight into trade in a particularly obscure
moment.
