The Bloody Shirt: Terror After Appomattox by Stephen Budiansky

Time: Noon–1 PM

FREE EVENT

Stephen Budiansky will discuss and sign his newest book, The Bloody Shirt:
Terror After Appomattox, an epic tale of terrorist violence—and uncommon
courage—in the post–Civil War South. Between 1867 and 1877, more than
3,000 free African Americans and their white allies were killed in cold blood by
terrorist organizations in the South. The Bloody Shirt brings to life this era
through the intertwining lives of five courageous men who dared to resist the
violence and keep the dream of freedom and liberty alive.
