Craig,

Many of the tombstones at St. John's Church have been moved, lost, removed,
or destroyed by man or the environment, over the years. Samual Mordacai
writes of the state of disarray of the graveyard in his book, Richmond in
Bygone Years.

There are no cemetery records from that era and a map was not done until a
project by a VCU history department intern in 2005.

We can't say that it is "likely" because we don't have any evidence to prove
this one way or the other.

Best,

Eric,

Mike Lyman writes to me that (1) if your Charles Wills was a wealthy
merchant, why does he not have a tombstone? and (2) if you contact St.
John's cemetery and they can say it is at least "likely" he is buried there,
he will include him in the revised Addendum for the book.

Contact information at St. John's is:
