Now through October 27, 2001 "Virginia's Coal Towns," a new exhibition
tracing life in the coal towns of southwestern Virginia can be found in the
lobby of the Library of Virginia. The exhibition traces the rise and fall of
these company communities using maps, letters, artifacts, official records
and period photographs. The exhibition is free and open to the public Monday
through Saturday from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM.

Also, if you are in Richmond on Tuesday, April 17, at noon please join us
for another in the series of free Mining the Treasure House lectures. Selden
Richardson, archivist for architectural records at the Library, will present
a talk entitled "Forgotten Castles: The Architecture of Richmond's
Armories."
