Now through October 27, 2001 "Virginia's Coal Towns," a new exhibition tracing life in the coal towns of southwestern Virginia can be found in the lobby of the Library of Virginia. The exhibition traces the rise and fall of these company communities using maps, letters, artifacts, official records and period photographs. The exhibition is free and open to the public Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Selden Richardson, archivist for architectural records at the Library, will present a talk entitled "Forgotten Castles: The Architecture of Richmond's Armories."
