Thanks to you all out there who responded to my notice about the XO. I do not own stock in the company, I have no vested interest in it itself, but having been involved in the development of the IBM PC in 1980-81, and having written the first widespread computer-based-training program for it, I know a good start when I see it. And it is only a start. You may be interested in following up this to see the experience of some of the first kids to use it.

My intention was to alert the good folks involved in education in the good old US of A, more specifically the Commonwealth of Virginia. I realize that this may be an uphill hope, since the Library of Virginia apparently shuns anything digital, and at least for archiving according to the EMail I have from them, wants things in microfilm instead of bits and bytes.

The following is a very interesting account of early experience in the market where the XO is intended.

I'm not sure if links like this get filtered out of an EMail along the way so, here it is in plain text.

"wiki.laptop.org/go/OLPC_Thailand/Ban_Samkha/trial-200705"

Of course you must put an "http://" in front of it.

If somebody with the technical ability and interest would like to start a group to explore and share opportunities of how we might use the capabilities of the XO to improve things in the Commonwealth -- maybe like "VA-XO"-- I would be glad to join and contribute my two cents.
