"Follow the money" is an often helpful research strategy when working with government records. Recently reformatted Revolutionary-era Auditor's records illustrate that the "bean counters'" records can be very valuable. Thanks to the Virginia State Society, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution for supporting their preservation!
