The next program in the Virginia Heritage Resource Center's Mining the Treasure House Lecture Series will take place at noon on Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in the conference rooms adjacent to the lobby at the Library of Virginia at 800 East Broad Street in downtown Richmond. The speaker will be Elizabeth O'Leary, guest curator of the Domestic Life Exhibition at Maymont House in Richmond. The title of her talk is the "Domestic Service Project at Maymont House." She will discuss the relationship between the employer and the employees at Maymont House, a suburban Richmond estate built in the 1890's. She is the author of Morning to Night: Domestic Service in Maymont House and the Gilded Age South, which will be published in May. There is free underground parking for Library patrons.
