Faculty Opening Project Coordinator, Collections Preservation and Processing Planning Assessment A Project Funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation The University of Virginia Library is seeking an experienced archivist or librarian to carry out a comprehensive collections preservation and processing planning survey of its Special Collections. The two-year project (funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation) based on a model developed at the Pennsylvania Historical Society will undertake a comprehensive survey of Special Collections' manuscripts and archives holdings in order to formulate a long-range plan. The survey will use qualitative and quantitative measures to rank each collection's research value as well as the collection's intellectual access, physical access, housing, and condition. These data will in turn help determine priorities for cataloging and preservation to be outlined in a Collections Preservation and Processing Plan.
