Oh, thank you so much for the information -- I had not come across that book
before.  

I thought the information I'd heard about John might be questionable because of
the age of the two Johns in our family that were alive at that time, so
you've clarified that mystery as well.

I must say, I continue to be impressed with the people who work at the
Library of Virginia.  I always find someone who is willing to locate the
information I need and who will take the time to look it up and share it. 
It's a model that every state should adopt.
