I accidently didn't paste it all: Judges are chosen by the voters for a
four-year term. DUTIES OF THE ORPHANS' COURT: 1. Review all regular estates
and guardianships, 2. Approve all commissions and/or attorney's fees, and 3.
Hear and act on all differences or disputes in estates. Court sessions: 9 am
to 3 pm, Monday and Tuesday each week.
Area Served
Serves Carroll County.

Gale,
I would guess that the reason your 3g grandparents' marriage is in the
Orphan Court book is that one of them had been orphaned (lost both parents
or just the father) and was still an "infant" thus still under the
jurisdiction of the court.

An even more interesting fact is that my ggg grandparents marriage was
recorded in the Orphan Court record in Adams Co., MS in the early 1800s.
Why
marriage records would be there is beyond my understanding.
