Per a manuscript written on the Webb family of Essex Co., VA, a Francis 
Smith, who was a son of William Smith (died about 1785 in Essex) and his wife 
Mary Belfield, married a woman named Letty Nuphis.  I can find little 
information on the Nuphis surname (neither GenForum nor RootsWeb seems to 
have a message board dedicated to this surname).  Does anyone have any 
information on a Nuphis family in the Essex Co., VA area in the 1700s-1800s?
