Hello Listers,

I have a book titled "To Be A Slave" and found an entry by Byrl Anderson.
It is interesting that he mentions his father (Master) Powhatan Mitchell.
They lived at Peddler River in Va.
If you are a descendant of Powhattan Mitchell..contact me and I will send
you information on Powhatan which I found to be very informative and
interesting.
As a caucasion doing research such as this, I found this particular
publication interesting because of the numerous anectodal narratives
involved. In this instance, Powhatan Mitchell appears to have been a
fairly "gentle" slaveholder (as opposed to the harsh and brutal masters we
so often read about).
