The VA Race Law passed in 1823 declared any child
of an Indian and any descendant of a Negro up to
the great-grandchild would be considered a
Mulatto. This designation was used for all
non-whites in VA until after the Civil War. Then
came the infamous Racial Integrity Law of 1924
know as the "one drop statue" and Walter
Plecker's reign of racism until his death in
1946.

Burton Harrison (1843-1920) which mentions the
Randolphs apparently they descend from John Rolfe
