What was the original question? The reply that
was first posted to your query did not gave any
indication as to what time frame.

The 1924 Racial Integrity Law or Eugenics Law
that VA passed was the worst in the history of
this nation. It was enforced by a rabid racist,
Walter Plecker who in the 1930s corresponded with
Nazi Germany about eugenics.

It was Plecker's contention that no Native
Americans existed in VA and all previous
designations of Native American or Indian should
be changed to colored or black, which he carried
out with a vengeance.

He considered anyone with one drop of other than
white blood as colored. The VA legislature in the
law said that anyone with one sixteenth or less
was to be considered white. This was to cover the
descendants of John Rolfe and Pocahontas who
raise a stink about being labeled colored.

The 1924 law was an update of laws passed in the
1800s.

Google: Walter Plecker and Virgina Race Law.
