I found my William Watkins on the 1850 Mortality Census Index for Nottoway
Co., Va. He died June 30 1849 and left his wife Rebecca and several children
including John Carter Watkins and Richard Henry Watkins who later moved to
Greensville Co.

The Mortality Census Index is on microfilm along with the other census
records. There is also an Agricultural Census which lists how many pigs,
cows, bushels of corn, etc. each farmer owned. This gives you an idea of his
relative prosperity in the community and an insight into how he lived.

Edith
