I believe there is a reference to Greenwood in the VHI:
http://eagle.vsla.edu/vhi
Do a keyword search on Greenwood Rappahannock, then try Gideon.
There are also references to Coons and Finks, and Garnet/Garnett

Subject: Greenwood plantation
Can anyone help with this? An African-American lady who may be related to
the Virginia Fitzhughs is looking for info.
"The name of the plantation is Greenwood and the plantation owner was Gideon
Brown. I learned more about him through the Rappahannock Library and a book
I received about the Rappahannock area. We were allowed to visit the
plantation out of the kindness of the current owners and inhabitants. Now, I
need to find the records of Gideon Brown (i.e. will, record of slave
sales/purchase, etc.). I have also found names of Culpeper slavemasters
(Coons/Koons, Finks,Garnet(t), and others I have written down at home) who I
believe were slavemasters of my ancestors but I am not sure where to search
for their records either."
Thanks
Charleen
