On 12 Jan 01 Mike Miller wrote "Does anyone know if it is possible to
view the Virginia Historical Markers, those silver and black signs along
the highway, online? I know that a book containing these signs can be
purchased but I would like to view them online. If no site exists, what
would be required to initiate such a site and let users submit photos of
the signs to be posted on the site?"

Mike, if you don't find a site, please start one. For example, there is
a Daughters of the American Confederacy marker erected near
Martinsville, VA in 1998 honoring James Overton TURNER, but during a
trip to the area in 1999 we couldn't find the marker! E-mails to the DAC
have gone
unanswered. Thanks to you or anyone else who can help. An on-line
source would bring it right up!
