RELIC service is now available in person at Central Library, 8601 Mathis Avenue, Manassas, Virginia 20110 and by email at mailto:[log in to unmask] and by phone at 703-792-8380. We opened to the public on November 19 while adhering to appropriate safety precautions. Our hours are now Monday -Wednesday, 10:00a.m. - 7:00 p.m., and Thursday - Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

NEW ACQUISITIONS AT RELIC
Beginning Tuesday, December 1
Since December is a gift-giving season for many people, it's a good time for RELIC to acknowledge some recent additions to the collection which were donated by supportive patrons and members of the community. RELIC librarian Kirk Johnson will highlight new acquisitions, including a letter written from the gold mines of early California, and a detailed eighteenth-century local map.
FIRST AND ALWAYS: A NEW PORTRAIT OF GEORGE WASHINGTON

George Mason University Professor of History, Emeritus, and renowned Washington scholar, Dr. Peter Henriques will be presenting a chapter from his new book, "First and Always: A New Portrait of George Washington." Even long time Presidential history buffs and students of Washington's life will find much of interest in Dr. Henriques' well-researched-and sometimes provocative-new study of our first President.
GENEALOGY 101
Beginning Friday, January 1, 2021
If you made a New Year's Resolution to finally get started on researching your family history, but aren't sure how to go about doing so, this video is for you!
RELIC staff have put together a prerecorded video summary of our popular "Genealogy 101" presentation, with advice on how to go about beginning building your family tree, and specific tools and strategies to do so.

RELIC is now settled into our new home at Central Library. We welcome back our old friends and invite newly engaged researchers to explore our resources. Staff Darlene Hunter, Kirk Johnson, and Don Wilson are here to serve you in person, as well as by phone and email.
In response to current health and safety regulations, our spacious new headquarters makes it easy for us to maintain safe social distancing, while also adhering to mask guidelines.
For the time being, all planned programming will be "virtual," either prerecorded or live-streamed. This format has the advantage of allowing distant researchers of participating, something we have been asked about for years. It seems to be the wave of the future.
We can now offer "Tree Doctor" sessions with Don Wilson again, though for now they will be scheduled virtually. If you want some one-on-one live chat about your research brick-walls, please call (703-792-8380) or mailto:[log in to unmask] RELIC to set up a time for a one-hour session. If you have a friend or relative who wants to participate with you, that will work with this method.
Don't forget about all the research assistance that's waiting for you on our website. In additional to our collection's catalog, there are a variety of tools in our DIGITAL LIBRARY https://www.pwcgov.org/government/dept/library/Pages/digitallibrary.aspx, including Ancestry Library Edition (available remotely to our library card holders through the end of March 2021). RELIC'S DIGITAL ARCHIVES https://www.pwcgov.org/government/dept/library/pages/relichistoricrepository.aspx provide access to many Prince William County historical resources, including databases, guides to historic sites, maps, digital newspapers, and high school yearbooks.
