This is great William. Exactly what I was hoping friends who use the LVA
site will offer others. I know most of us have many, many VA lines but
occasionally we do have one in another colony or state and any help is
wonderful. I have found that both NC and SC are lacking in records on line
and that slows research. Virginia has to be the very best of all I work in!!

Subject: INTERNET RESOURCES FOR FAMILY HISTORY IN MARYLAND
Many 17th century settlers to the future Northumberland and Westmoreland
Counties of the Northern Neck of Virginia where originally in the Province
of Maryland. Two very useful resources are 1) the Archives of Maryland
Online
http://aomol.net/megafile/msa/speccol/sc2900/sc2908/html/volumes.html
After you click on a specific volume, there is a menu in the center of the
page which includes
"Index to Names of Persons and Places". You may find your person of interest
there.
And 2) Dr. Lois Green Carr's: "St Mary's City Career File" . Dr. Carr -
Historian, Historic St. Mary's City - has placed images of her research
index cards online for a number of early settlers, men and women. In other
words, Dr. Carr has performed much of the research for you. I found 69 index
card images for a Francis Gray.

In the drop down menu on the left of this webpage, replace "All" with "St
Mary's City Career File", then type in the person's name after "Search for".
