The most useful published guides to indentifying Virginians who
participated in the War of 1812 are two real books:

Stuart Lee Butler, VIRGINIA SOLDIERS IN THE UNITED STATES ARMY,
1800-1815 (1986), and Stuart Lee Butler, A GUIDE TO VIRGINIA MILITIA
UNITS IN THE WAR OF 1812 (1988).
