Friends of the Virginia State Archives
20th Annual Slatten Lecture



For the past 20 years, the Friends of the Virginia State Archives have
brought top genealogical speakers to the Library of Virginia to share their
expertise and provide insights into research methodology.  The Friends are
pleased to continue this effort with its annual Slatten Lecture to be held
at the Library, 800 East Broad Street, Richmond, VA, 23219, on Saturday,
September 21, 2019, with registration commencing at 8:30 am.  Michael L.
Strauss, an Accredited Genealogist and forensic investigator, will deliver
four lectures drawing on his many years of research.



Topics include “Researching Your Colonial War Ancestors;” “Refugees,
Claims, and Conscription: Your Ancestors During the Reconstruction Era;” “The
Great War: Researching Your World I Ancestors,” and “More Than Just
Obituaries: Genealogical Newspaper Research”.

Registration fees are $35 for members of the Friends or $50 for non-members
and includes a box lunch.  Pre-registration is recommended.  The deadline
for registration is September 16, 2019.  For additional information, call
