Greetings!! I’ve been researching my family history intermittently since the 1970s. I’m on ancestry.com in a public family tree with autosomal DNA results tied to my tree. I’ve uploaded my gedcom file to several genealogy websites, including FTDNA (kit no. 904009). My direct ARNOLD lineage hails from southcentral VA as follows:
My 2GGF Davis Arnold was allegedly from Halifax VA , born abt 1794, m1. Susannah Bryson in 1816, Wilson County TN, m2. Martha “Patsy” Puckett in 1829, Wilson County TN, and m3. Drucilla Davis abt 1870 in Rutherford County KY, where he died abt 1875. My 3GGF Henry Arnold was born abt 1770 in Halifax VA (?) and died in 1815 Wilson County TN. He m. Nancy Davis 1793 in Pittsylvania County VA, daughter of Thomas Davis. My 4GGF Thomas Arnold was born abt 1750 in Henry County VA and died abt 1824 in Surry County NC, m. Sophia/Sophronia Gallion abt 1769 in Halifax County VA ?
There are public documents as well as aDNA and yDNA matches that hint of ties to earlier generations of ARNOLDs in Virginia, but I have no unambiguous paper trail to a potential 5GGF Henry Arnold of Goochland or Cumberland County VA (c. 1724-1815) who m. Sarah Young, and 6GGF William Arnold of Cumberland County VA (c. 1700-1774, VA) who m. Elizabeth Bostick. William's ancestry is probably well researched and published, e.g., in Arnold Family Association of the South newsletters and elsewhere?
We have accumulated much information about Davis 1794, Henry 1770, and Thomas 1750 that we've summarized in "annotated timelines" for each of these ancestors (abt ten pages each), gleaned from both family sources and public records, many found at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City UT, on-site visits to state and county offices and other local facilities, as well as a visit to the Library of Congress. I intend to share more details, short bios (timelines), and other files soon, either on this forum or elsewhere, as appropriate.
Does anyone recognize my ARNOLD lineage, and if so can we please discuss?
