Hello,

I was looking through THE DEEDS OF AMHERST Co., VA 1761-1807 and
ALBEMARLE CO., VA, 1748-1763, by The Rev. Bailey Fulton Davis yesterday
and found a few items that I was wondering about.  If anyone knows who
this John GILMORE is, please let me know.  He is different from the one
who married Jane HEARD, isn't he?  (They lived in Albemarle Co.)  These
must have been in Amherst Co.

Page 389 (Don't know the deed book number), 13 Oct 1768.  JNO GILMORE,
AC, for love borne my children & children of my wife, JUDITH, formerly
the wife of THOS OBRYAN, to my son, JNO GILMORE, my daughter, MARY
GILMORE, to WM. OBRYAN, to ???RY (copy was chopped off) OBRYAN, to CATH.
OBRYAN, JNO. BRADY.  (X) of GILMORE.  Conveys to ??ch (each?? copy was
chopped off), stock.  Wit:  JNO. MAYFIELD, SR., JNO. MAYFIELD, JR. (X),
JNO. BRADY

I assume this is from the same deed book:  Page 410.  24 Jan 1776.
JUDITH GILMORE, AC, for love of her daughter, BRIDGETT MAYFIELD - 7
cattle and to her children at her death (save those killed and male
kind.)  If children reach 20 before BRIDGETT's death.  Wit:  GABL. PENN,
WM. BRYAN.  Rec. 3 Mar 1777.

Page 217.  17 Sep 1779.  JUDITH GILMORE, AC, to RICH. GATEWOOD, AC, for
1200 pounds, 200 acres on branch of Rutledge.  Lines:  MOSES
HIGGINBOTHAM, HENRY GILBERT, dec'd.  Wit:  DRURY CHRISTIAN, JNO.
WHITTLE, MOSES PENN.
