Wesley E. Pippenger has just produced a genealogy of his own branch of the
Alexander Family. The line concerns Somerset and Worcester counties in
Maryland with the family of William Alexander and Ann Liston. There is some
discussion of the possible link to John Alexander of Eredy, County Donegal,
Ireland, and the large families that removed from Maryland to North
Carolina. The lineage to Virginia follows William and Ann's son William
Alexander II who married Catherine Wallace, their son Moses Alexander who
married Elizabeth Robertson Weatherly, and their son John Alexander who died
testate in Northumberland County, Virginia in 1767. This John Alexander's
son, John Sheldon Alexander, moved to Albemarle and Augusta counties, and
his sons, who include William Alexander (1778-1854) and Reuben Alexander (d.
after 1830) left numerous descendants in Augusta and Rockingham counties.
William's youngest son, James Washington Alexander, removed from Virginia
and traveled through West Virginia until reaching Saline County, Missouri
where he established a family, and ultimately residing in Kansas City,
Missouri where he left numerous descendants. Paper, 8-1/2x11",
illustrations, photographs, 194+x pages, index. Copies $35.00 postpaid.
Wesley E. Pippenger, P.O. Box 309, Tappahannock, VA 22560. Libraries may
invoice.
