Robert Carter Nicholas asked the Burgesses in Virginia for a day of prayer
and fasting but it may have been in April after the battle of Lexington &
Concord, I can't remember if it was for that or for the Boston Harbor
blockade after the Boston Tea Party. But I think the story goes that
Patrick Henry wanted to ask but Thomas Jefferson knew he was too radical
for the more Tory leaning Burgesses, so TJ asked RCN bc RCN was more of a
moderate who could appeal to both sides.
