VA-ROL List Members –

It seems a little activity on the Virginia Records Officers’ List has driven a few people to drink, climb walls, and/or unsubscribe from the list. Before there are any other jumpers, please remember that, along with the opportunity to serve as resources for one another, this is the primary means by which we, your faithful LVA Records Management Analysts, communicate updated schedules, training opportunities, and other records management related issues. Granted, we’ve been pretty quiet the past couple of years, but as our section has ramped up a bit, we expect the communications to increase.

If deleting the posts that do not interest/pertain to you becomes something of burden, there’s an option to switch to the “digest version,” whereby you’d receive one message a day containing all of the posts from the previous 24 hours. Guidance on how to make that happen is under my signature block. Should you choose that route and wish to respond to a post, please know that will take a little editing on your part so as not to drive the other list members even further up the wall.

Click the link Virginia Records Officer Listserv (VA-ROL)

Please review the guidance linked from this page, esp. the List Rules

Click on “Subscribe, change options, unsubscribe or post to the list”

Click “Subscribe or unsubscribe from the list (or change settings)” – 3^rd bullet down

Enter your e-mail address and name

Default settings are recommended to start with

Click “Join the list”

Retrieve the “Command confirmation request” e-mail at the address you provided VA-ROL, and click the confirmation link.

Three auto-generated messages will be sent to your inbox. The second and third are virtually identical to the first…they may be deleted.

If you would rather receive one posting per day with all of the postings from the previous 24 hours included and indexed (sent out at 5:00 pm everyday there’s a posting), follow the directions above, and after clicking on “Subscribe or unsubscribe from the list (or change settings)” change the “Subscription type:” to “Digest (HTML format), and then click the “Update options” button.

If you need to create a password to the listserv, in order to change or update your account (you will also need one if you want to search the archives and be able to see who posted the messages), you can click here to create the password.
