Assistant Director for Records Management and IT Policy - Position #FP499a


Information Technology Services (ITS) at Old Dominion University is seeking a full time Faculty Professional to serve as the University Records Manager and IT Policy Administrator.

As University Records Manager, ensure university-wide compliance with the Virginia Public Records Act by developing and managing a service-oriented University Records Management Office and a comprehensive records management program.  As ITS Policy Manager, serve as the Assistant Information Security Officer for Policy and Security Governance, working with the Chief Information Security Officer to develop and maintain policies and organizational participation in the Information Security Program.  Core responsibilities include:  Management of University Records Management Office; Retention and Disposition of Records; Collaboration and Communications with others at Old Dominion University and other state agencies; Project Management; Develop and maintain ITS Standards; Represent ITS on the ODU Policy Committee.


Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  *   Professional Records Management Experience
  *   Comprehensive knowledge of physical and electronic records management theory and standards, relevant statutes and administrative rules
  *   Knowledge of technologies enabling effective records management
  *   Demonstrated ability to develop and implement operational plans, to investigate and identify additional resources needed to promote the program, and to advise agency management on organizational needs and challenges.
  *   Demonstrated leadership and communications skills
  *   Demonstrated customer service orientation including the ability to deliver effective training to all academic levels, including faculty administrators, staff and students
  *   Demonstrated writing ability to support drafting, editing and proofing of ITS and ODU policies and standards



Education/Training/Experience/Licenses/Registrations/Certifications

  *   Certified Records Management (CRM) or an equivalent certification.
  *   Advanced degree in a relevant field (MLS/MLIS/MIS, MPS), coursework in records management or Certified Records Manager (CRM) and professional experience.
  *   Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.



Conditions of Employment

  *   Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm;
